Although there haven’t been any official announcements to backup the claim, various reports have been making the rounds that Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal with German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for the transfer of French attacker Christopher Nkunku, with the deal reported to be on the brink of being made official as early as the January winter transfer window. Nkunku is no doubt one of the best players at Leipzig and there have been multiple reports of how teams have been showing interest tin him for some time now.
Aside from Chelsea, it was reported that Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, as well as Barcelona were eheuing a potential move for the player but it is currently looking like the Blues have stolen a March ahead of their rivals in making a deal possible for the player. Even when Thomas Tuchel was still Chelsea manager, it was reported that the German ma aver was interested in bringing Nkunku to Stamford Bridge and it looks like Graham Potter also sees the qualities of the player just like Tuchel did before he got fired by the club’s owners some months ago.
If the deal goes through, it is expected to be a masterclass of a transfer for the lies as they have lacked some firepower upfront so far this season, causing them to miss a couple of big chances, as well as costing them crucial points as well. Nkunku is said to be excited about the prospect of moving to England and playing in the Premier League, and has also been touted to flourish at Stamford Bridge. Former Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic has revealed that signing the attacker would be a good statement of intent from the club and that they should wrap up the deal as soon as possible to fend off interest from other clubs.
